A recent clash on the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan has resulted in the death of about 18 people. At least 10 of those who have died in the clash are reported to belong from Pakistani troops, revealed officials who did not want their names to be disclosed. It was also reported that some of the Pakistani troops could have died because of US force’s air strike. On the other hand, a Taleban spokesperson informed that eight of their people got killed in the clash.
A senior officer from Nato has underscored that this attack was executed by the United States and not the Nato forces. However, none from the Pakistani, Afghan or the US forces have made any official announcement on this event as yet. The soldiers, furthermore, are reported to have lost their lives nearby a border post in the Mohmand region that falls in the tribal areas of Pakistan opposite Afghanistan's Kunar province, late on Tuesday, June 10.
Media reports, on the other hand, state that army helicopters carrying bodies landed in Peshawar’s north western regions following clashes and probably air strikes in the border region. But the media reports also mentioned that it is not really clear what had transpired. Security officials have said pro-Taleban militants instigated an attack into Afghanistan and Pakistani soldiers in a border post were killed in the counter-strike.
