Pakistan took 1-0 lead in the series with a 138-run win over New Zealand in the first ODI on Tuesday. Pakistan scored an imposing 287/9 with major contribution from Afridi, Kamran Akmal and Khalid Latif's steady maiden fifty.
 
New Zealand were all out for 149 in the 40th over. The victory gave Pakistan a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. The remaining two matches will be played on Friday and Monday. The two teams will next move to Dubai for two Twenty20 internationals on November 12 and 13.
 
Afridi added 101 runs for the fifth wicket with Latif after dismissal of Salman Butt and Younis .New Zealand pacer Shane Bond took both the wickets who returned back to the pavilion without scoring.
 
Latif with Mohammad Yousuf made 57-runs for the third wicket .Afridi's last ODI fifty came against Zimbabwe at Multan last year. Latif hit only two boundaries during his 112-ball knock.
 
The limited over series is being played in Abu Dhabi after New Zealand refused to tour Pakistan over security fears.
