The government of Pakistan has issued an order to shut down the offices of the Saudi-financed 'charitable' organisation, Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD). The front organisation of the terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), JuD was alleged by India to mastermind the 26/11 terror attacks on Mumbai. Following the pleas of India and US, the UN declared JuD a terrorist group. According to reports, the Pakistan government has put chief of JuD, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed under house arrest for a period of three months. Apart from it, Islamabad has deployed cops at the headquarters of Jamaat-ud-Dawa in Lahore.
Talking to the media, advisor to the Pakistani prime minister on interior affairs Rehman Malik informed that concerned departments have been ordered to maintain a strict surveillance over the activities of JuD. The government has ordered to seal all the offices of the group across Pakistan. It is very clear that Pakistan has exercised the recent move owing UN pressure which declared the organisation a terrorist group.
Besides banning the terror outfit, the Pakistani government has frozen the assets of JuD and nine of its leaders, informed a senior government official. He also added that the names of the banned terrorists will be placed on the exit control list to prevent them from leaving the country. The regional offices of Jamaat have been seized in Karachi, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Pakistani Kashmir.
