Pakistan lifted the Bangladesh tri-series title as it defeated India by 25 runs on Saturday night at the Sher-e-Bangla National stadium in Bangladesh. The Indians despite dominating the tournament from the very beginning and defeating Pakistan by a huge margin of 140 runs in their previous match against the winners, failed to climb the run mountain.
Pakistan scored a 300 plus run chase for the Indians. The winners after twin tons by Salman Butt and Younis Khan made a score of 315 for the loss of three wickets. India on the other hand faltered in its chase and ultimately folded at 290 in 48.2 overs. From the Indian side, it was skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who scored maximum for the team at 64. Following him was Yuvraj Singh at 59 runs. It was the lack of big knocks and partnership and a fine spell by Umar Gul (4-57) that restricted the Indians from taking home the title.
Brief Score:
Pakistan: 315/3
India: 290/10
Man of the Match: Mohammad Younis Khan
Man of the Series: Salman Butt
