About 22 hostages have been freed by the Pakistan forces from the clutches of the anonymous gunmen who attacked the Rawalpindi army HQ o Pakistan. Reports for Pakistan military also mention that 3 of the hostages and 4 militants have been killed.
The army had mentioned earlier that 10 -1 5 soldiers have been held as hostages by the 5 heavily-armed militants, who launched an attack over Pakistan on Saturday morning. The assailants, who launched their attack on the main gate, had claimed the lives of six militants. Once they took charge of the army HQ, they held the civilians and soldiers as hostages for 18 hours.
Three loud explosions and gunshots were heard the complex near Islamabad on Sunday morning with three ambulances taking position. A helicopter hovered in the sky.
Army spokesman Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas said commandos had raided the building.
“Most of the hostages are out of the building now,'' he said. “The security forces are inside the building, and they are going around searching and mopping up.''
This attack comes when Pakistan was about to launch a attack on Taliban. Pakistani Army mentioned that this assault had only added to their commitment for attacking Taliban.
