A Pakistani film featuring Nandita Das, themed on a real life story of a seven-year-old Pakistani Hindu boy and his father who fortuitously cross the border and are jailed, will get screened at the ongoing Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The film ‘Ramchand Pakistani’ looks forward to fostering amiable relations between India and Pakistan by highlighting the emotional upheaval the general public at both the places suffer due to strained political conditions.
Keeping this scenario in mind the movie sports an apposite tagline, ‘Two nations Poised for War. One Family Torn Apart’. The movie has been made by first-time Pakistani feature filmmaker Mehreen Jabbar and features Nandita Das as the woman whose husband and son are jailed for being ‘spies’. There will be 79 other films from 41 counties that will get screened along with Ramchand Pakistani at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film festival started on Sunday 27 April and will conclude on 4 May. The film is likely to be released in India and Pakistan soon.
