The approaching Padmawati Express train collided head on into the Kalindi Express on the outskirts of Ghaziabad on Monday, August 11. The Kalindi Express was stationed near the Karkar Model Railway Station because of some signal problems. Sources inform that this train accident killed one person, whereas six others who got very severely injured also died.  

A rescue operation was immediately put in place to help the injured and clear the tracks. Deepak Ratan, the Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police, reached the accident site in duration of 10 minutes. ‘The rear coach of the Kanpur-Bhiwani Kalindi Express, which was badly damaged after being hit, derailed due to the impact of the collision’, Saxena said. Rail traffic on this route is presently disrupted.
