With incessant three-day rainfall, over 250 houses have collapsed in the taluk of Canacona in Goa from the resulting floods.
Several people remain trapped in the collapsed houses. The state has confirmed that 400 other houses were inundated due to the rains.
Goa Chief Minister, Digamber Kamat has arrived to the affected areas where rescue efforts by the district administration with the aid of the army and the navy are underway.
There have been two confirmed deaths so far. Kamat addressed a press conference last night (Oct 2) in Margao saying that no efforts were spared to bring the marooned to safety.
The villages Poinguinim, Partagali, Delem, Agonda and Khotigao remained under water throughout night.
