A new World Record for 'Bollywood dancing' by most number of people has been created by some 200 people, who danced away together to the tune of a hit Bollywood song at London’s Trafalgar Square. It was a five-minute routine that involved some 212 people of all ages and walks of life and they danced avidly to the tune of the song Om Shanti Om from actor Shahrukh Khan’s film, Om Shanti Om. Even though the weather was bad, it did not dampen the spirits of the dancers who succeeded in winning a place in the Guinness Book of Records.

The event was hosted by Erin Boag of Strictly Come Dancing and it encouraged young people to break old records and set new ones. The event, for instance, also included setting the record for the largest number of football freestyle tricks in a minute. Compared to the 10,000 people who had attended the same event the previous year, the organizers admitted that the bad weather caused the numbers to dwindle this year. The event was part of a dance-themed festival organised by BBC Blast which caters to teenagers and young adults.
