This year people of Mumbai too will get a glimpse of the prestigious Osian film festival. Though the festival will kick start in the in the capital city Delhi from July, a curtain raiser will be held in Mumbai on June 13 and 14. The people of the commercial capital of India can enjoy 14 of the 140 films chosen for the 10th Osian Cinefan film festival.
The festival apart from the several world class films will also have interesting exhibitions of vintage Hindi novel covers and Shakespearean aquatints. The organizers also choose to keep it a low key affair without any celebrity.
Latika Padgaonkar, Osian’s Cinefan Joint Festival Director remarked that they did not wish to loose the Delhi audience, but none the less will bring the festival to Mumbai in a big way. The Mumbai edition of the festival will end with the felicitation of Bollywood veteran star Shammi Kapoor, for his immense contribution to Indian cinema.
