A study conducted in UK shows that intake of orange juice can higher the risk of diabetes, however the same study shows that eating the whole fruit is beneficial for a person and in fact it reduces the chances of diabetes. It has always been considered that eating habits causes the disease and it’s another proof of same.

In diabetes the insulin resistance gets so bad that persons’ body can no longer produce enough insulin to push the blood sugar into the cells. The blood sugar then rises out of control resulting in type 2 diabetes. Diabetes is simply an extreme case of insulin resistance.

The new study shows that the natural sugars in juice are absorbed too rapidly in the stomach, causing a surge in blood sugar levels. The study shows that researchers found that women who drink a glass of fruit juice every morning are 18 per cent more likely to get type two diabetes.

The main drawback of the study is that it has been done only women comprising 70,000 female nurses. Now, what are the implications on men could not be established. Experts believe the natural sugars in juice are absorbed too rapidly in the stomach, causing a surge in blood sugar levels.
