Leading software developer, Oracle Corp announced on Wednesday (June 17) that it has acquired the intellectual property of Conformia Software. None of the companies revealed anything about the terms of the deal. Conformia Software is a provider of web based enterprise software products and solutions for product and process life-cycle management.

The acquisition of Conformia’s intellectual property will help Oracle to offer an end-to-end solution for managing drug development, packaging and commercialization to its customers. According to a statement from Oracle Crop, the software company will integrate Conformia's technology into its own PLM (product lifecycle management) offering. The new acquisition will help Oracle to fulfill its larger strategy of pursuing vertical markets.

California-based Oracle Crop is the third largest software companies in the world, after Microsoft and IBM. Recently the company has drawn direct competition with German behemoth SAP, which once had ties with Conformia Software. SAP’s NetWeaver Fund made an investment in Conformia in 2007. Oracle develops tools for database development, middle-tier software, enterprise resource planning software, customer relationship management software and others.
