Oprah Winfrey Satisfied With TV Channel OWN Launch
American TV queen Oprah Winfrey is on cloud nine after her highly awaited channel was successfully launched on January 1 2011.
Winfrey revealed that she is happy with the launch and is looking forward for a bright future of the network, OWN.
The American TV host admitted that the idea to launch a channel was not new and the planning was going on since three years and finally the D-day arrived. In a bid to look after her new venture, Winfrey resigned from her popular daytime talk show.
And to beauty’s joy, the reports suggest that the channel recorded 13 million of viewership on first three days of its launch.
Overwhelmed with the response, she quoted, "I am grateful we weren’t embarrassed and that people came (to watch).”
"At this point in my life, I am not trying to get everybody. I am only trying to get the people who want to hear... There is a critical mass of people - we haven’t found them all - who want different programming," she said.
"It was not until we went on air that I fully started to grasp what it means to have a network where you are the OW of the OWN."
"How absolutely extraordinary it is that I can sit in this place with my name on a network, coming from a little town in Mississippi...and growing up without a television," she added.
