Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai
Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai

Direction: Milan Luthria

Cast: Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Kangna Ranaut, Prachi Desai, Randeep Hooda.

For all those who were eagerly waiting to see a substantial cinema from a long time, their wait is finally over. Surprisingly but its true this week’s release, ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’ has more than one reason to watch. It achieves all the levels of a quality film and is capable of leaving a long lasting impact on its audience.

And if you are thinking that the latest offering of Milan Luthria is nothing but a combo of gang war, bloodsheds and Emraan’s sensual kisses then think again. Even though the movie takes you back to the time when dons like Haji Mastan and Dawood Ibrahim were fighting to rule Mumbai, it largely deals with emotional and sentimental angles too.

‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’ takes you back in the era of 1970’s when Mumbai was ruled by underworld dons like Haji Mastan and Dawood Ibrahim. It represents the rise and reign of popular don Sultan Mirza (Ajay Devgan) who was then considered as a Robin Hood of Mumbai. But Mirza’s relations sours with his loved one & biggest fan Shoaib Khan (Emraan Hashmi) after Shoaib challenges his superiority and dominance to rule the city. And then starts the tale of gang wars, blood-sheds, shoot outs and terror.

As said earlier, it should not be mistaken with only a gangster movie as it also holds the interesting drama and power play performances by its lead cast which takes the flick to another level. The script is beautifully penned by Rajat Arora and has made every character’s presence felt in the film.

Another important aspect of the movie that will give your ears an important job is its powerful dialogues. They are carefully inked keeping the character’s traits in mind.

Director Milan Luthria has closely observed the minute details and his efforts are very much visible on the screen. The best thing about Luthria’s direction is that he has managed to sail the movie smoothly through the rough patches of gang wars and violence.

The magical and touching songs of the movie are already a hit. And obviously credits goes to Pritam who has created tracks like ‘Pee Loon’.

Well, lead actors, Ajay Devgan and Emraan Hashmi have given riveting performance. Both the actors have beautifully put life to their respective characters while keeping in mind the edge of their emotional quotient. Talking about female leads, Kangana Ranaut and Prachi Desai, they don’t have much to do in the film however have spread the magic of their persona.

After a long time a worth watching movie has finally hit the screens.
