The latest findings of the experts state that it is the obese who are contributing to the global food crisis and climate change. As per estimation of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the obese people use up 18 per cent more calories compared to the average. Since transport and agriculture both use up oil, even the extra usage of fuel and steeping costs of food is being slapped on the obese people in this new study. The study report states that all these results in a weak endeavor to afford food and rise in greenhouse gas emissions.

This report has come up in tandem with the announcement made by the World Health Organization that the number of obese people will rise by twofold to 700 million by 2015. To substantiate their study, the team of experts point to the fact that a quarter of adults in UK are obese and that this is twice the figure as compared to the 1980s. Then they explain that the obese need 1,680 calorie on a daily basis to sustain normal energy and a surplus of 1,280 to support daily activities, which is a fifth more than what is standard.
