After 27 % OBC reservations in higher educational institutions, the Parliamentary OBC forum of MPs on Wednesday asked the government for the introduction of quotas in the judiciary.  Congress MP and the convenor of the OBC Forum, Hanumanth Rao, said that for the OBCs to get into the mainstream of the society it is essential that they should have their representations in the judiciary.

Earlier, the OBC forum alleged that the judiciary kept out qualified OBC candidates by manipulating its system . It is to be noted the Nachiappan Committee, set up in 2007, had already made such recommendation.  The Parliamentary OBC forum has 70 MPs and they plan to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on April 29, 2008 to discuss about  quotas in the judiciary.

The meeting was attended by many political leaders including Anbumani Ramadoss, R Velu, Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan and V Narayanasamy.
