The presumptive Democratic Party presidential nominee, Barack Obama seeks the blessing of Lord Hanuman in his battle for the White House. The 46 year old Illinois senator is known to be carrying with himself a tiny monkey god, apparently Hanuman, for good luck. Obama, whose father was a Kenyan and mother a white woman from Kansas, spent initial days of his life in Indonesia where Hinduism is a popular religion.

A latest photo posted on Time’s White House Photo of the Day Collection, shows Obama carrying along with him a bracelet belonging to an American soldier deployed in Iraq, a gambler’s lucky chit, tiny Madonna and child and a tiny monkey god. The editors and the photographer has though not identified the monkey statue as Hanuman, it none the less appears to be a statue of Lord Hanuman. Barack Obama after winning the seventeen month long battle for Democratic Presidential nomination against Hillary Clinton, is the first ever Black-American nominee in the race to white House.
