Democrat Barack Obama lashed out on his rivals on Sunday for allegedly twisting his words for political gain when he was branded an elitist for saying that small town voters were holding on to guns or religion.

He said "I am the first to admit that some of the words I chose, I chose badly. They were subject to misinterpretation. They were subject to be twisted and i regret that, I regret that deeply." He also added further, "It sounds like there is some politics being played." The comments made by him have the potential to threaten his chances in Pennsylvania which votes on April 22.

Turning on both the rivals, Obama said that his words have been badly twisted which suggested that he was demeaning people who were religious. He said that he respected the right of people to own guys. "I am a man of deep faith", he added. He also accused McCain, an Arizona senator, of being close to lobbyists.

Furthermore, he accused Hillary Clinton and said "shame on her," and even went as far as to mock Clinton's recounting of a duck hunting trip she took many years ago, in Arkansas. On the other hand, the Clinton camp responded to the comments made by Obama as an “outburst” and said “The shame is his.”

He leads her in pledged delegates, in state contests but neither of the two is likely to reach the 2024 votes needed for nominations at the Democrats' national convention in August.
