Rob Malley, one of Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s Middle East policy advisor resigned recently owing to his disclosure that he meets members of militant Palestinian group Hamas. Hamas, which controls Gaza, is listed by the US State Department as a terrorist organization. Owing to his alleged anti-Israel stand, Senator Obama had to sever all links with him. Malley has earlier been a National Security Council aide to former President Bill Clinton.

Malley is currently working for International Crisis group, a non-partisan conflict resolution think tank. The former policy advisor to Barack Obama remarked that he had never hidden the fact that in his job with the International Crisis Group, he is expected to meet all kinds of people. Obama had lately been struggling to win the support of Jewish and pro-Israel voters. Malley described as an informal advisor to Obama who disagrees with the Democratic Presidential hopeful on ‘many things’ regarding the Middle East. Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor, revealed to the media that Malley has no formal role in the campaign and he will play no role what so ever in the future.
