Nuclear Suppliers’ Group (NSG) diplomats have shown their concern on the issue of supplying nuclear fuel to India without putting additional restrictions. Earlier, diplomats from several nuclear-exporting countries were critical on the issue of the US move to seek no additional conditions in international export guidelines for India to receive foreign nuclear supplies.

Factually, for successful Indo-US nuke deal United States needs NSG clearance so that the same agreement can be sent to the US Congress. And, only after the ratification of the agreement the deal can come into existence. NSG is also worried that the US is seeking to give non-member India a say in the NSG's decision making.

NSG’s major objection is that while Washington's draft proposal exempting India from the export rules of the 45-country NSG shows that there is no harmony between allowing nuclear supply to India and its non-proliferation commitments to world community. Looking into situation NSG may not agree on the proposed exemption next week, and would need another meeting to get convinced.
