Novak Djokovic stormed into the second round at the Swiss Indoors in Basel. The Serbian defeated Andreas Beck by 6-3, 7-5 in the opening round.
Djokovic registered his win in just under 90 minutes in the match played at the St Jakobshalle.Third-ranked Djokovic will take on Czech Jan Hernych in the second-round .The Czech outclassed Australian qualifier Peter Luczak, in the first round by 6-3, 6-4.
Swiss hopes fared well, with Marco Chiudinelli defeating German eighth seed Philipp Kohlschreiber by 7-6 (7/5), 3-6, 7-5.
Chiudinelli said,"It's great to have some success at home in Basel. It was a tough match. But I'm very fit right now and it hasn't been that way for me during the last two years here.”
"He (Kohlschreiber) really put me to the wall but I believed in myself and came through with the win. To win at home is perfect, I'm elated."
