Novak Djokovic clinched his career best victory on Thursday at Basel. He crushed Czech Jan Hernych by 6-0, 6-0 to advance into the Swiss Indoors quarter-finals.
The Serb registered his win in a 52 minute encounter .Novak bettered his last best win where he had outclassed Argentina's David Nalbandian by 6-1, 6-0 in the Queen's club semi-finals in 2008. Djokovic had also ousted Britain's Andy Murray by the same scoreline in Miami two years ago.
Djokovic will next play against winner from Swiss sixth seed Stanislas Wawrinka and Finn Jarkko Nieminen. Evgeny Korolev will face Roger Federer in the last eight who has defeated Jeremy Chardy by 6-4, 7-6 (7/1).
Marco Chiudinelli kept national hopes high as he defeated compatriot Michael Lammer by 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. He will play the winner from match between France's Richard Gasquet and American John Isner.
