The Beijing Olympic organizers have pledged that “no force” can stop the Olympics games torch relay. This announcement comes after the interruption caused in the Olympic torch relay in London and Paris recently by the supporters of Tibet. Beijing Olympic organizing committee (BOCOG) spokesman, Sun Weide said that the torch relay will continue its journey with the support of people all over the world.
The recent Chinese crackdown on Tibet has resulted in the upsurge of protests not only in Tibet, but all over. With Beijing all set to host the 2008 summer Olympics, the anti-China protests have caused the global attention to zoom on to the Tibet issue. This has angered the Chinese government, who now holds the Tibetans seeking independence for their homeland responsible for the overall chaos.
Sun Weide spoke against the anti-China protests saying that the Chinese government strongly condemns the handful of protestors who were trying to sabotage the torch relay in Paris. He even cited the attempted sabotage of the Olympic torch as an indicator to the unpeaceful protests the Tibetans were waging. What we have seen in Paris and London is another example of what these people are, pointed out Sun Weide.
The Olympic flame relay was cut short in Paris recently because of continuous disruptions by hundreds of campaigners protesting over China's controversial rule of Tibet and a range of other human rights issues. Significant protests also upset the previous day's leg in London. The supporters of Tibet have further promised more of the same during the Olympic torch relay in San Francisco.
