Nokia and Vodafone have joined hands to provide faster internet service in India. The service would start with Nokia N97 series. Other Nokia handsets would follow suit later on.
Harit Nagpal, Director of Marketing and New Business of Vodafone-Essar, said that they are delighted to offer more choices with Nokia N97. N97 would enable better internet connectivity and Vodafone is coming up with special data plans for easy access to internet.

Ramnath, Director of Operator Channels at Nokia India, said that at present, internet has become everyday part of people’s lives and N97 gives the freedom to people to be always switched on. The service is scheduled to be available by next week through all Vodafone stores offering Nokia phones.

Nokia N97 has the concept of social location. It has integrated A-GPS sensors and an electronic compass, which helps the device to locate where it is. Updating social networks automatically with real-time information is easier with N97, providing the friends the ability to update the status and share social location and pictures or videos.

N97’s home screen features people, media, and content that are of utmost importance. Social networks, news, and friends can be accessed by touching the screen. The 16:9 display is personalised with updated widgets of favourite web services and social networking sites.
