Nokia has for the first time has forayed into dual SIM market with the launch of two dual SIM handsets- Nokia C1-00 and Nokia C2-00 for the Indian market.
"Entry-level consumers need dual SIMs for various reasons, including economising time and costs, improving efficiency and for increased convenience. To address these consumer requirements, Nokia has launched these two devices that offer multiple SIM capabilities with a balanced feature set and relevant innovations at affordable price points," Nokia Executive Vice President for mobile phones Mary McDowell was quoted as saying.
The Nokia C1-00 model comes in Red and Medium blue and weighs around 72.9 grams. Other features of the phone include calendar, clock, SMS, contact entries up to 500 numbers, FM radio and games. The Nokia C1-00 comes with a price tag of Rs. 1,999.
The other model, Nokia C2-00 is enabled with multimedia and messaging features. The phone supports applications such as Calendar, Contacts, To-do, Notes, e-mail, SMS and MMS. The model is equipped with high-speed USB 2.0 and Bluetooth version 2.0.
With Indian mobile phone market being flooded with dual SIM handsets, Nokia’s entry marks more significance. Many mobile companies from China and Korea have started offering low-priced mobile phones in India posing serious threat to handset majors including Nokia, LG and Samsung.
