Multiplexes across the country have decided against the screening of Yash Raj banner film Tashan due to revenue sharing problem. The film has been released only in single screen theaters. Vishal Anand, the Vice President of Fun Republic theatre in Mumbai said that issues regarding revenue sharing could not be solved and so they have decided not to screen the movie. He however expected that the issue will be resolved soon.
Tashan is one of the most anticipated films of the year and has a huge star cast with the likes of Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are the major attractions of the film. The exact details of revenue sharing are not yet known but the multiplexes have decided that they will not leave their ground regarding revenue.
Yash Raj Films said that the terms and conditions regarding the release of their films have already been laid down last year and according to those terms if a Yash Raj film fails to perform well then the camp will compensate the multiplexes for the losses. Earlier too many films have not been screened in the multiplexes because of revenue sharing problem. Welcome, Taare Zameen Par and Jodhaa Akbar are some of them.
