Minister of state for telecom Sachin Pilot has said that no ombudsman will be set up for rectifying the poor mobile telephony services complaints.

When asked if government has plans for any independent ombudsman to resolve issues like call drops, he said "The direct answer to this question is no”.

During Question Hour, Pilot said while the telecom revolution has led to India having one of the world's cheapest call rates, it has also led to congestion in network leading to call drops.

He also mentioned that steps for improving the quality of services are being adopted by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd.

Telecom minister A Raja mentioned that the per second billing ensures that the customers pay only for what they use and not the entire minute, as at times they use few seconds and then call drops.
