Talking with a private news channel India Atomic Energy Program (IAEP) Director Dr Anil Kakodkar has said that there would not be any compromise in dealing with NSG. At the same time he expected goodwill from US in NSG-India dialogue on the issue. Talking about India specific safeguards agreement he said national interest has been put on top.
Talking about the issue he said that lobbying is needed for the purpose of convincing NSG. Also, he opined that the undertaking taken by United States as per the July 2005 statement India expects that there will be a clean and unconditional NSG exemption for it is very important for it. He added that India has always been taking principled position and this is not the only exception.
Answering to the question that with the deal India has got a special and unique place in world he said that India is arriving on the global scene and we should see the world recognizing its place. Talking about the opposition coming from some European countries he said that those were principled opposition and India convinced them accordingly.
