Defence minister A K Antony told the army on Tuesday that India would not be complacent on the Chinese border and that there was 'no room for complacency'. Mr. Antony further said that India constantly needs to upgrade its military and economic capacities. Mr. Antony was addressing the army commanders in a Five Day Top Army Commanders Bi-annual Conference in New Delhi.
Mr. Antony recently visited the Indo- China border in Arunachal Pradesh. China, in the past had said that Arunachal Pradesh is a part of the Chinese territory and this had been severely criticized by New Delhi. Antony also said that Pakistan is still promoting cross border terrorism and hoped that the newly formed government in Pakistan will take some positive stpes in this direction. He also hoped that Pakistan would prevent cross border terrorism and asked the Indian forces to be more alert on all fronts.
Antony also assured every help to Nepal to bring peace and prosperity in the country. He hoped that the change in the political system of Nepal would prove to be an important landmark in the history of the Himalayan region. The army commanders expressed their concerns about a meeting held in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) which may raise terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
