Nivio has launched world's first online Windows desktop, nivioCompanion in India. Powered by Microsoft Windows nivioCompanion is a tiny set-top box that runs on the Internet. The new online desktop enables the users to access programmes like iTunes, Skype, MSN Messenger or Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
The nivioCompanion will be available for a price of around Rs 4999 and the device along with a 15" LCD screen, keyboard and mouse will cost around Rs 7999. Nivio has tied up with Bharti Airtel to provide the virtual PC. The new package has been introduced with an objective of extending accessibility to computing for those who do not own a computer.
Since the desktop runs on Internet, nothing goes out of date. All the files are automatically backed-up daily and kept safe and private just like an online vault. The nivioCompanion has been launched in New Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) region and after its success there will be a nation-wide launch. The users can install new programmes in no time and the service will be available by paying normal monthly fees.
According to the president & CEO of Nivio, Sachin Duggal, the launch of nivioCompanion will now make computing affordable and smart. He added that the introduction of virtual PC will change the whole way of computing in India. Nivio which basically deals in software has nearly 80,000 customers.
