National Film Archive Of India (NFAI) will now be preserving all the films directed by ace director Madhur Bhandarkar, the director has already handed over the copies to the organization.

The films directed by Bhandarkar to be preserved are ‘Chandani Bar’, ‘Fashion’, ‘Page 3’, ‘Traffic Signal’, ‘Corporate’ and ‘Jail’. All his films have gained critical appraisal in the past and so it also attracted the attention of NFAI.

The director handed over the copies of the movies to the NFAI in Pune some days back. This institution works towards safeguarding Indian cinema for posterity.

Bhandarkar adds further, “I’m happy that NFAI is preserving my films. I feel it’s of a critical importance that we preserve all our films for future generations to refer. Our industry has some very respectful work which is left unclaimed. But if it’s preserved it can be viewed at any time in future and hence our work gets an everlasting life. I am thankful to the ministry for including my films in their collection.”

Vijay Jadhav, the director of NFAI says, “Madhur Bhandarkar’s films are in demand at various film festivals. I would like to thank him for his support and the copies of his films.”

The director’s upcoming movies are ‘Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji’, his first ever comedy film and ‘Heroine’, which is his most ambitious project till date.
