According to reports, a New Zealand judge, Nicola Mathers has given a ruling that ‘topless women on motorcycles’ parade may go ahead. The parade according to plan will take place at the main street of the country's biggest city Auckland. Last year some 80,000 people came out to see the parade. The parade aims to protest against sexual discrimination.
Earlier, Auckland City Council had pleaded for an injunction to stop the ‘Boobs on Bikes’ parade which according to them is offensive and obscene. The judge held that the significant gathering at the spot of parade show that people do not consider it offensive or obscene.
Crow, the organizer in his plea to judge said that a ban would infringe on women's freedom of expression which is guaranteed under New Zealand's Bill of Rights. However, opposition is bound to come from some sectors, and at least one woman city councilor has been reported to have vowed to lay down in Queen Street, Auckland's main thoroughfare, to block the parade.
