New Zealand beat Ireland by 83 runs in the Super 8 match at Trent Bridge. Ireland won the toss and chose to field. New Zealand went in without Ryder and Taylor due to injuries. The team called in Aaron Redmond, who was playing in the Bolton league in England. Redmond opened the innings with McCullum. Redmond blasted 63 runs off 30 balls with 13 hits to the fence. Guptill remained unbeaten on 45. Most of the Irish bowlers were dealt with severely. The Kiwis scored 198/5.
