The new time-table of the Indian Railways, giving details about trains and other facilities provided to the passengers, will come into effect from Tuesday, July 01, 2008. the ‘Trains at a Glance and Public Timetables’, published by all the zonal railways separately will provide details about the new trains and extensions of some existing ones was announced in the Union Budget 2008-09. The holistic all India timetable will give information regarding the 77 new trains as well as details about the reduced travel time of over 250 trains and other facilities.
The new time table is user friendly and comes with several new features that include how to read a table, station index, trains between important stations, train name and number index among other things. The Indian Railways has also come up with the idea of color coding for the trains. The Pink color is denoted for trains like Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express, Jan Shatabdi express and Garib Rath Express; yellow for other superfast trains and white or blue for other express or mail trains.
