A three-member panel was created by the Indian government on Saturday, September 27, 2008 to review the complaints voiced by the defence personnel pertaining the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Panel. Defence Minister A.K. Antony is also a part of this three-member panel, which has been instructed to provide the armed force personnel their hiked pay and arrears by the first week of October.

The Defence Minister, presently in Thiruvananthapuram, announced that the grievances will be looked into so that the Indian armed forces can happily celebrate their Diwali by collecting new hiked salaries. Antony accepted that there were grievances after the Sixth Pay Commission announced the pay scales. He, however, underscored that all such problems have now been sorted out. It was Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who appointed the three-member panel to look into the issues raised by the defence forces.
