A group of advocacy groups are gearing up for the launch of a new online copyright database for users on copyright laws around the world. It is to be a combined effort of the two US based foundations, Electronic Frontier Foundation and Electronic Information for Libraries.

The new copyright watch site is hopeful of providing the users the useful and authentic information on the national and international copyright laws. So it will help them to know about the regulations and avoiding suits from copyright holders.

"Details of copyright law used to be important only for a few people in creative industries," said EFF international outreach coordinator Danny O'Brien.

"But now, with the growth of the Internet and other digital tools, we are all authors, publishers, and sharers of copyrighted works," he added.

Additionally, the coordinators intend to highlight the differences in copyright issues through the online copyright database that exist around the world. So the restrictive issues can be sorted out through constant dialogues in the international meetings.
