Many new start-ups today are refining the art of search-engine technology by making them more intelligent and responsive to specific keyword searches. While the world is still hung on to present search-engines such as Google or Yahoo WebSearch, trends in market are changing to tweak search-engines to understand the context in which the key-words are placed.

For example, if you type the keywords ‘cooking by Indians’, you are most likely to get a list of links with the words ‘cooking’ and ‘Indian’ which invariably point you to sites with the different styles and dishes of Indian cookery: not exactly what you were looking for.

This is because the present generation of search-engines is optimized to simply look for the keywords and completely bypass the context in which they are placed. Premier search-engines such as Google indexes web-sites and stores millions of key-words in its database where the engine simply looks for the keywords you have typed and throw up results accordingly.

The newer search-engines such as True Knowledge and Wolfram Alpha however use concepts of Artificial Intelligence such as natural language, object recognition and statistical machine learning to truly understand the concept in which you have placed your key-words. This way you will find exactly what you were looking for instead of browsing dozens of links and trying to refine your search every now-and-then to hit the jack-pot. Also, these newer search-engines will give you direct information instead of pointing you to links thus minimizing the risk of mal-ware that one can attract by browsing harmful sites.

Presently these search-engines are still in the teething stage and will take several months at the least to make their debut.
