Netherlands went on to win gold in the Lightweight Women's Double Sculls event of Beijing Olympics on Sunday, August 17 with a time of 6:54.74. Their team consisted of Kirsten van der Kolk and Marit van Eupen and it was just a difference of 1.29 seconds that kept them ahead of the team from Finland. Sanna Sten and Minna Nieminen comprised the Finnish team. The bronze medal went to the Canadian team consisting of Melanie Kok and Tracy Cameron with a time of 6:56.68. They too managed to oust the German team by just 0.04 seconds to take bronze.
