Mohali SSP, Ranbir Singh Khatra has lodged a complaint against Industrialist and IPL team Kings XI Punjab co-owner Ness Wadia that the latter subjected him to ‘verbal abuse’. The SSP has lodged a written complaint with the Mohali deputy commissioner Rahul Bhandari, the Punjab Home Secretary and the Director General Police alleging that Wadia had publicly insulted him and used derogatory language.
The spat between Ness and the SSP took place during the match between Kings XI Punjab and Deccan Chargers on May 23, played at the PCA stadium in Mohali. Khatra alleged that Ness met him at a reception encounter during the match and started accusing the Mohali police of selling match tickets in black and allowing free loaders in.
Ness, according to the SSP, had also accused the police of stealing his team’s T-shirts as well as liquor. The Industrialist also got involved in a spat with the SSP on account of the Mohali police routinely terrorizing his men in the stadium.

The spat is also going to cost the IPL a bit as the Mohali Police has slapped a bill of Rs.1.75 crore on IPL for its services rendered during the matches, when, according to the SSP, IPL engaged in ‘cross commercial activities’. The SSP remarked that the whole series of IPL matches have been marred with the accusations of racial discrimination, use of liquor and flouting of smoking laws.
Regarding the accusations, the SSP remarked that the stadium was half empty and the tickets were available in abundance at the ticket counter, hence the question of selling tickets in black did not arise. Ness has, however, not remarked anything so far about the allegations leveled by the SSP.
