The Himalayan Nation, Nepal is likely to get its new constitution by May 2010. Plan of new constitution was adopted last year after Nepal's main political party and Maoist rebels had signed a peace deal in 2006. The Maoists have emerged as the biggest political force in elections held for a constituent assembly, this year. The coalition government headed by the Maoists is focused on overseeing the drafting of the new constitution of Nepal.

According to the chairman of the constituent assembly, Subas Nemwang the drafting of the new constitution has been approved by the panel and the country will soon get its new constitution. The introduction of the new constitution will be a historic occasion as it will be the first time ever when the country will have a constitution prepared by members of an elected constituent assembly.

Over the last few years, the political condition of Nepal has been reeling under conflicts. The country has suffered much under king's absolute rule. The democratic elections in 2008 ended the 239 years old monarchy in the Himalayan nation.
