After India, it's Nepal's turn to ban cigarette smoking in public places. The government of Nepal will introduce a new law for banning smoking in public places of the country. In a statement issued to media, the deputy Prime Minister as well as the home minister of the Himalayan nation, Bamdev Gautam stated that under the new law cigarette smoking will be banned in certain designated places. And if some one breaks the law, he or she will have to pay fine for it.

Report says that the supreme court of Nepal had proposed to the government to go for the ban about two years ago. But because of tumultuous political situation of the country, the government could not comply with the orders of the apex court. As per reports, cigarette smoking is very prominent among the people of Nepal. About 49 per cent of male and 29 per cent of female are reported to be indulged in smoking in Nepal. The new decision by the government of Nepal is likely to restrict smoking to some extent.

Ban of cigarette smoking in public places of India has yielded fruitful results. It has reduced the intensity of smoking among office goers, thereby brought a drastic change in their habits. Besides these, ban on smoking has reduced the sufferings of passive smokers. Many of the Indian families applauded the health ministry of India for implementing such a significant law in the country.
