Prime Minister of Nepal, Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, has urged China for extending the Beijing-Lhasa railway line till Kathmandu.

“The economic ties between Nepal and China could be taken to a new height if the railway line that has reached up to Lhasa from mainland China could be extended up to Kathmandu, and economic infrastructure could be developed on the Himalayan transit points between Nepal and China," Prime Minister Nepal noted.

The Qinghai-Tibet railway, located in high altitudes, is about 1956 km in length. This connects Xining in Qinghai to the capital of Tibet Autonomous location, Lhasa. This is the first connection between China and remote Tibet. The Prime Minister has mentioned that any anti-China activities on Nepal will be strictly avoided.

"I would like to assure our Chinese friends to become assured on behalf of Nepal that the Himalayan republic will not allow any anti-China activities on its soil," the Prime Minister said, during the inauguration of the Chinese cultural festival at Kathmandu on Sunday.

He mentioned that Nepal still adheres to the One China policy. He added that the Panchasheel, which is the five-principle for peaceful existence, is the foundation for Nepal-China relationship.
