Former world champion Nelson Piquet might take over the BMW-Sauber Formula One team, as he is close to a co-ownership agreement, was reported on Monday.
It has been reported that talks with 20 % stake holder of the team, Swiss Peter Sauber, were close to being finalized .Piquet’s son Nelson Piquet Jr could be one of the drivers for the team in a move from Renault.
BMW has announced last week that they will end their F1 engagement after the current season.
It has been also reported that Ferrari will supply the new team, which could be named Sauber-Piquet, with engines.
