Even though the solar eclipse on August 1, 2008 will be visible only in parts of Canada, northern Greenland, the Arctic, central Russia, Mongolia and China from 1530 IST to 1745 IST, people elsewhere also can watch it and that too live. This is because the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa) of United States is making necessary arrangements to telecast the phenomenon live.

Apart from Nasa, the initiative to provide total coverage of the solar eclipse through a live streaming webcast on the first of August will also be shouldered by the Exploratorium Science Centre of San Francisco and the University of California at Berkeley.

The coverage will begin from China, which is deemed as the best observation location. People all over the world can watch the eclipse when it takes place over Nasa TV and over the website www.Nasa.Gov. The Nasa coverage will include images taken by telescope as well as a live educational show.
