Representing himself as an extraordinary, but deprived talent recognized by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) with research scholarship, a 12th standard boy of Kolhapur with the help of fake documents almost succeeded in fooling the authorities into awarding him cash prize. Sridhar Kamble, who just gave his class 12 exams from Vivekanand College, hogged the media limelight upon claiming that he had been recognized as junior scientist by NASA after he presented them a research paper.

Sridhar Kamble even took the media for a ride which reported that he had written a paper on Milky Way and black holes after completing class 10 examination conducted by Kolhapur HSC board. Seeing the predicament of the poor student Kamble, who otherwise portrayed himself to be brilliant in academics, even the Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh promised him all help from his side so that he could avail the NASA fellowship.

The truth, however, came to light after the state social welfare department began cross checking all of Sridhar Kamble documents to establish authenticity. This measure was needed to initiate the process for his US trip. The authorities were taken aback when they discovered that not only his 10th standard board exam certificates, but also his correspondence with NASA was phony.
