The city of Hyderabad is likely to get a 5,000 bed multi-specialty health city by next five years. This announcement was made by Narayana Hrudayalaya Group of Hospitals on November 8, 2008. Bangalore-based Narayana Hrudayalaya Group of Hospitals has the largest heart hospital of the world in the city. Spread over an area of 40 acres of land, the new health city will be named Narayana Hrudayalaya Malla Reddy Hospitals.
According to the chairman of Hrudayalaya Group of Hospitals, Devi Shetty, the first phase of the hospital project will require an investment of Rs.2 billion. About 300 bed facility will be set up in the first phase of the project. The hospital group will be assisted in the project by Malla Reddy Group of Institutions. Besides all general hospitals, the Hyderabad health city will have cancer and kidney hospitals and research laboratories.
Narayana Hrudayalaya Group of Hospitals is famous for its heart hospital of Bangalore. Besides Indian patients, the heart hospital also treats patients from 26 countries. Report says that the hospital performs 30 heart surgeries in a single day. Over the years, the heart hospital has earned immense popularity all across then globe. The artificial heart implantation facility which is available at Bangalore hospital will also be included in the proposed heath city in Hyderabad.
