India-based construction firm Nagarjuna Construction Co (NCC) has decided to execute four new projects in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Out of the four projects, the construction of an academic institute in Dubai is considered to be very vital with a total construction value of 200 million dirhams ($54.4 million). The construction company of Hyderabad has several other construction orders in Gulf countries. The total international construction orders of the company are worth $816 million.

Talking to media, the general manager of NCC's UAE operation, Majoe Mathew said that the company's recent decision has been taken after examining all the pros and corns. He added that there is no point in entering into projects which are lacking proper funds. Most of NCC's projects in Gulf are with the government department of those countries. Mathew said that the company is maneuvering its business polices in the Gulf by keeping an eye over the financial condition of the region.

The NCC is also supposed to undertake the construction task of a series of dams in Al Amerat Heights in Oman. The construction of dams will protect the area from flood, triggered either by cyclonic or normal rainfall. Last year, Oman's coastal areas were severely hit by Cyclone Gonu. The contracts of dams are expected to be issued in February next year. Company's construction business has shown an upward trend during six months. There has been 26 per cent rise in NCC's net income in the second quarter of the 2008-09 fiscal.
