Roger Federer and three times defending champion Rafael Nadal will face each other in the Monte Carlo Masters final for the third time in a row. Both of them won their semi final matches on Saturday to enter the finals. Federer automatically advanced after Novak Djokovic retired complaining of dizziness and sore throat. He was trailing 6-3, 3-2. Nadal defeated Nikolay Davydenko 6-3, 6-2 to enter the finals.
Federer praised Nadal by saying that the former is in excellent touch and is playing an impressive tennis. On clay court, Nadal leads Federer 8-6 and 6-1. Federer also said that very few players are as dominant as Nadal on clay court but that he would give him a tough competition. Nadal hasn't lost a set at the Monte Carlo Masters ever since he defeated Federer in the 2006 final.
Meanwhile, Nadal said that as he plays more on clay court he gets more adapted to clay. Earlier in the match between Federer and Djokovic, after the end of the first set Djokovic called his trainer and then shook hands with Federer after losing the serve in the fifth game of the second set. Earlier in February too he faced similar problems against Russia in the Davis Cup.
