Imagine being online at home and being seized by an irresistible desire to croon out Eric Clapton’s ‘Tears In Heaven’ and share it with the world as well. That can now be a reality as the MySpace social networking site has introduced the new MySpace Karaoke! MySpace Karaoke (ksolo.myspace.com) is being launched almost two years after Fox Interactive, a part of News Corp., which possesses MySpace, bought out the karaoke site kSolo.com. Through this combination of MySpace and kSolo, people can upload all their audio recordings of songs they have sung onto their profile page.
Tom Anderson, who is the president and co-founder of MySpace, says MySpace and karaoke together make a natural pairing. He explained that while music is popular on MySpace, karaoke too is a fun activity to engage oneself in. Tom Anderson pointed out that engaging in karaoke on the internet or MySpace enhances the fun factor as then, one can share it with other people. Users can upload their song recordings on one’s MySpace profile page and get ratings from friends and even fans.
Tom Anderson further points out that MySpace Karaoke does not have a video choice presently, but is being worked upon and will soon be introduced with a split-screen duet feature. Those interested in MySpace Karaoke will just require a microphone for singing. Otherwise, it provides them the music (minus the vocals) along with the lyrics that will roll down the computer screen. MySpace Karaoke presently is offering between 2000 and 3000 songs to its customers.
