India’s music maestro Zubin Mehta will be conducting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra on 28 June, a day before the final game of Euro 2008.

Apart from Bollywood hero John Abraham who is posing as the brand ambassador of the UEFA European Football Championship 2008, there is one another prominent Indian personality associated with this grand event - Music maestro Zubin Mehta. Sources inform that the Mumbai-born Mr Mehta has been asked to conduct the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra on 28 June, a day before the final game of the European football championship. 
 
The UEFA European Football Championship 2008, which is more popularly known as Euro 2008, is the world’s third largest sporting event after Olympics and the FIFA World Cup. As such, it will be a very special moment for the highly acclaimed Indian music maestro, Zubin Mehta. He will be conducting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra at a venue that will have the majestic summer palace of Austria’s Habsburg rulers, Schonbrunn as backdrop. 
 
The orchestra group will also star the renowned Chinese pianist, Lang Lang. The Euro 2008 Games kicked off on Saturday 7 June to the ethereal sound of the Vienna Boys’ Choir and the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra. Thereafter followed the classical fanfare and performance by Austrian pop star Christina Stürmer and then some more music. Some 1.1 million guests from Austria and abroad are expected to visit Vienna during the European football championship games.
